Training Routes
1st Year Training
College
Attend Further Education course (Btec First Diploma in General Eng.) at college in 4-week block release stages during the first six months. After first 6 months - Further Education will progress in one of three ways:

Training Centre
Complete practical training qualification at Rolls-Royce North East Training Centre on alternative 4-week block release. Our apprentices will cover a general mix of practical Training during the first 6 month period. This will include a combination of Maintenance, Manufacture and Welding/Fabrication.

Additional to this our apprentices will achieve key skills qualifications at Level 2 in the following:
- Communication
- Application of number
- Information and communication technology
- Working with others
- Improving own learning and performance
2nd Year
Apprentice will leave Rolls-Royce NETC to start their career in engineering at a local company to begin work-based training alongside skilled personnel. Apprentice to attend college on day release to complete their Further Education qualification (as outlined previously). Rolls-Royce NETC will also carry out training reviews every 12 weeks during this time, gathering NVQ level 3 evidence.
3rd Year *
With support from their employer the apprentice can attend college on day release basis to continue with their Further Education (either City & Guilds, ONC or HNC, note this is not a compulsory part of the apprenticeship programme*). Apprentice will continue with work based training at their company. Rolls-Royce NETC will continue with training reviews every 12 weeks and identify NVQ level 3 routes. Apprentice will then begin knowledge questions.
*Note: Any additional Further Education from Year 3 onwards is not a funded part of the Apprenticeship programme as Further Education Technical Certificate will already have been obtained by the end of year 2 (Btec qualification). Sponsorship for any additional Further Education from Year 3 onwards can be provided by the Company the apprentice is employed by, or funded by the apprentice directly.4th Year
Apprentice can continue with additional Further Education (see previous note*). Work based assessments for NVQ level 3 are carried out by Rolls-Royce personnel, and the apprentice will compile a portfolio of their specific Company standard practices and procedures.
Apprenticeship will be completed and certificates awarded if all of the summarised requirements below are met:
- PEO Level 2
- Key Skills Level 2
- Technical Certificate (Further Education qualification obtained in 2 years)
- NVQ Level 3
