Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What qualifications do I need?
A. Our ideal applicant will be 16 to 18 years old and will have G.C.S.E. 'C' grades or higher in Mathematics, Science and English and have a real desire to be an Engineer.
Q. What will be my hours of work?
A. In our training centre, the hours are Monday - Thursday 7.30am to 4.00pm, Friday 7.30am to 12.30pm. These may change once you are employed within a local company.
Q. What will I wear for work?
A. Casual clothes. All overalls, safety footwear and protective equipment will be provided for you, free of charge.
Q. How long will my Apprenticeship take?
A. The duration of an Engineering Apprenticeship does not have an exact time limit. Normally you are considered to be competent after about 4 years. However, this depends on the type of job you are doing.
Q. Where will I work?
A. Your initial training will be based at our Training Centre and at a selected college. After successfully completing this training, you will take up employment in one of many companies who look to Rolls-Royce N.E.T.C. to supply them with Apprentices.
Q. What else is there?
A. We have a subsidised canteen offering a selection of reasonable priced hot meals and snacks.
